The course is now finished. On the evaluations, over 90% of the students who responded said that the course was either a "very good" or "excellent" learning experience. From inside UCSC, you can read the complete summary of the student evaluations of the course, as well as the original evaluation forms themselves.
The structure of the course is based on the instructor's own book on Game AI:

A K Peters, Wellesley, MA. July 2004.
Most of the required reading will be from this text. There are also a couple of other books from which lecture material may be drawn:
Programming Game AI by Example.
Wordware Publishing, Inc. November 2004.
Stuart Russell and Peter Norvig.
Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach.
Prentice Hall. 2nd edition. December 2002.
