Distributed Pair Programming
Experiment Support Page

I have developed a software application to allow pair programmers to work together without having to physically collocate. This tool allows the partners to pair program from two separate locations, using the Internet to view and modify their shared desktop.

I am conducting an experiment to evaluate the effectiveness of this tool, using student volunteers from the spring 2004 sections of CMPS 12A and 60N.

One-half of the volunteers in this experiment have been randomly assigned to the tool group - the pairs in this group are allowed to use this tool on their programming assignments in the class.

The other half of the volunteers will continue to pair program while collocated with their partner.

If you are in the tool group, please download the distributed pair programming client below.

If you have any questions, please send email to Brian Hanks.
